Journey to FSC: A Story of Community Forests

Conceptualisation, creation, and design of an online game and redesign of digital assets to increase the impact of FSC and make the certification more accessible to family forests and smaller forestry units.

THE CHALLENGE
Create global engagement through an online, interactive game that appeals to smaller forestry units and communicates the benefits of joining the FSC.

THE OUTCOME
 A fresh take on the FSC’s digital assets and an online game called Journey to FSC—interactive, engaging, and beautiful as you walk through the forest answering questions, listening to inspiring stories from small forests and family owners, and reading valuable resources that offer additional information about getting FSC certified.

As the leader in sustainable forestry, FSC is trusted by NGOs, businesses, and consumers worldwide to protect healthy, resilient forests for all, forever. Small-scale and community forests are at the heart of FSC. The specific challenges that these groups face are not only linked to the requirements of FSC certification but also to access markets that value sustainability. To address these challenges, we worked with the FSC on the redesign of their digital assets and developed an online game www.journeytofsc.org to increase their impact and make FSC more attractive to these stakeholders. 

By creating a game in collaboration with Fantasive, we educated and inspired smaller forestry units who were interested in becoming certified but felt burdened by the complications and costs of certification.
