Conceptualizing and designing an International Women’s Day 2019 ‘Balance4Better’ campaign to step up gender equality across the West and Central Africa.

Design a regional campaign which celebrates a future in which innovation and technology create unprecedented opportunities for women and girls to play an active role in building more inclusive systems, efficient services and sustainable infrastructure to accelerate gender equality and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals
36% increase in followers on social media platforms through the designed campaign which encouraged more action and sparked curiosity among women, beneficiaries and partners to promote the inclusion of women and youth in social and economic life in the region through volunteerism
Promoting the inclusion of women and youth in social and economic life, in challenging contexts such as in West and Central Africa, was one of the key regional United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme priorities in 2019. To celebrate women, UNV partnered with top agencies engaged for advancing women’s roles and rights and looked at stepping up gender equality across the region by getting more women involved in peace and development initiatives, through capacity building and volunteering opportunities.
International Women’s Day 2019 was identified as an important opportunity to share the unheard stories of incredible women and men in West and Central Africa who find innovative ways to advance gender equality. Starting on the 4th March, two weeks #Balance4Better campaign was rolled out, showcasing women and men volunteers working with different UN Agencies (UN Women, UNDP, UNFPA among others), sharing their inspirational stories on how they volunteer for a better world.
At the Future by Design, we were proud to support the UNV in West and Central Africa and design the entire campaign aiming to step up gender equality across the region. This campaign amplifies the voices of incredible men and women who are passionate and committed to accelerating gender equality and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The collaboration with Future by Design is bringing out online presence to another level which is translated in a growth in our social media followers. The campaign for International Women’s Day 2019 has been a true highlight.
