Forest Stewardship Council: Aligning with EUDR Requirements

Conceptualisation, creation, and design of a series of documents, social media assets, and an animated video that show how FSC stakeholders can comply with and engage with the new and revised EU regulation on Deforestation-free Products.

THE CHALLENGE
Create a global, multilingual campaign that features multiple assets in varying formats by taking dense legal documents and regulations and extracting the key concepts to make them understandable, relatable and engaging for FSC stakeholders. 

THE OUTCOME
Conceptualise, design and development of FSC content relating to the EUDR requirements, including the conceptualisation, creation and design of a 40-page infokit. Scripting and animation of a video which was translated into multiple languages and shared globally. Creation and redesign of animated PowerPoints to support online consultations and encourage engagement by global stakeholders. Development and design of a global social media campaign across LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter and Facebook.

FSC is strengthening its system so actors throughout their supply chain can meet all aspects of EUDR and other relevant forestry legislation in Europe and across the world. FSC is leading systemic change and developing new technologies to help companies meet EUDR requirements. 

From June 2024, FSC EUDR Aligned will provide integrated tools that companies can use at any point in the value chain to meet EUDR legality, sustainability, and due diligence obligations. Targeted support will help companies adopt these tools ahead of December 2024 enforcement.

As the lead design agency for FSC, Future by Design was asked to assist in disseminating important information to all stakeholders ahead of the public consultation process for the EUDR requirements, which come into effect later in the year. In order to engage stakeholders, FSC first needed to make them aware of the consultations. Through a social media campaign that we wrote and designed, across the world, stakeholders could see when consultations were being held and what topics were being addressed, as well as key information about the changes. This was done through static posts, webinar invitations, quizzes and more. An animated video- conceptualised, scripted and crafted by FBD was shared globally through multiple FSC channels in many languages. And the PowerPoints for the consultation presentations were redesigned by our creative team, including the addition of animated characters representing key players in the forest management industry. A 40-page infokit was also compiled and designed by our team as a more digestible reading manual for stakeholders.
