THE CHALLENGE
Effectively communicate the challenges the world is facing in advancing the health and rights of women, children and adolescents, aligned with the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health, which presents a road-map to ending all preventable deaths of women, children and adolescents within a generation and ensuring their well-being.

THE OUTCOME
The narrative, layout, UI/UX development of the Protect the Progress 2020 microsite, and Every Woman Every Child Virtual Event Hub, supported by a strong visual identity, social media campaign, animated videos and GIFs.

As we commence the Decade of Action, the great progress the world has made toward improving the health of women, children, and adolescents has not only stagnated but is now under the severe threat of backsliding.

After an extraordinary decade of progress, the outlook for many women, children and adolescents looked better than ever before in early 2020. For example, under-five deaths reached an all-time recorded low in 2019, and more than 1 billion children were vaccinated over the past decade. Coverage of immunization, skilled birth attendant and access to safe drinking water reached over 80 per cent. More girls are going to school and staying in school than ever before.

But the health of all children and adolescents is at risk due to the looming threats posed by pollution, climate instability and the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbates existing inequities, with reported disruptions in essential health interventions disproportionately impacting the most vulnerable women and children.

25 September 2020 marked the launch of the UN Every Woman Every Child 2020 Protect the Progress Report and Pledge. The Report highlighted the gains made in the last decade to progress women’s and children’s health, which are now under significant threat by conflict, climate crisis and COVID-19.

The Report interactive website developed by Future by Design Studio (protect.everywomaneverychild.org), serves as a multimedia journey providing a deeper dive into key data, analysis and solutions. The website also prominently features the pledge to #ProtectTheProgress, inviting the global audience to join world leaders in their commitment to protect and prioritize the health of women, children and adolescents around the world.

The Future by Design studio gave a creative direction to the campaign to effectively communicate the world’s challenges in advancing women, children, and adolescents’ health and rights. The Protect the Progress 2020 microsite is supported by a strong visual identity, communications and social media campaign, and graphic design materials.

The final products include:

  • An interactive report microsite: A multimedia journey providing a deeper dive into critical data, analysis and solutions, and a call to action to join the #ProtectTheProgress movement: protect.everywomaneverychild.org
