Bárbara Fonseca
Where folklore, memory, and imagination become living characters.
Barbara Fonseca builds worlds where reality and fantasy blur. Growing up with family dinners filled with tales of village characters and folktales, she developed a vivid imagination that still shapes her work. Today, Barbara’s characters become symbols of larger stories through which she explores power, community, and the tension between truth and myth.
Now studying Nonlinear Narratives at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, Barbara is expanding her work beyond illustration into performance, installation, and experimental storytelling. At its heart, her practice asks a simple but powerful question: what new worlds might become possible if we dared to imagine them?
