The Challenge

The FSC General Assembly happens only once every three years, yet the decisions made in that room ripple out into everyday life. This year, more than 700 stakeholders met in Panama to debate how we protect forests in a world that’s running out of time.

Future by Design was tasked with creating the brand identity that would bring together the diverse voices, priorities, and regions of FSC.

The Solution

We built a cohesive visual identity that lived across every touchpoint, including: mainstage graphics and plenary visuals, PowerPoint design for opening and plenary, Open House installation design, large-format banners, entrance signage and welcome moments, digital displays, greeting cards and printed materials.

The result was a unifying identity that gave clarity, energy, and purpose to one of sustainability’s most important international forums.

Our Journey with FSC

The FSC General Assembly is the highest decision-making body of the world’s most trusted forest certification system. Decisions made here influence policies, economies, local communities, and ecosystems worldwide.

Throughout our collaboration with FSC, we worked to translate technical forest governance into visual storytelling that felt accessible, global, and hopeful.

Our role was simple: make sure every delegate, from every continent, could see themselves in the future they were shaping.

When FSC and Panama’s Ministry of Environment signed a landmark agreement for sustainable forest management during the Assembly, the identity we created formed the visual backdrop to a historic moment in Panama’s environmental journey.

A word from our Creative Lead

Panama, the host country for FSC’s 2025 General Assembly, is celebrated for its rich, vibrant flora and fauna. Its national tree, Sterculia apetala, is deeply woven into Panamanian culture: its timber is widely used, its seeds are edible, and its oils are valued in cosmetics, paints, soaps, and more.

This national tree served as the creative inspiration for the event logo. FSC’s three chambers — environmental, economic, and social — are symbolised by three leaves from the Sterculia apetala, each in a distinct colour (green, orange, and blue).

Within each leaf, linear patterns echo the traditional Mola art of the Indigenous Guna people of Panama and Colombia, a signature element of Guna women’s textile design.

Together, these elements unite nature and society in a single, meaningful visual.
